Description
Nestled in the heart of High Weald and at the foot of the North Downs in the county of Kent, United Kingdom, Headcorn is a vibrant aerodrome featuring a plethora of general aviation activities including an active fixed wing flight school, helicopter flight school, pleasure flights, ballooning, wingwalking, aerial survey work, aerobatics, skydiving, and the Aero Legends Spitfire experience.
During The Second World War, Headcorn was known as RAF Lashenden, and British, Canadian and US Forces all operated fighters from the aerodrome. During 1943, the famed British ‘Ace’ James ‘Johnny’ Johnson commanded his squadron of Spitfire IXbs from RAF Lashenden.
Headcorn, Lashenden Aerodrome EGKH has been recreated faithfully over hundreds of hours and features:
- Over 70 custom 3D objects have been created exclusively for Headcorn; from volumous hangars and rusty fuel pumps, to World War Two outbuildings and modern cafes, all have been meticulously constructed and placed in their correct positions in and around the aerodrome.
- Static warbirds all correctly coloured and with accurate tail numbers out on the line:
- 4x SV.4 Stampes
- 2x Supermarine Spitfire Mk IXs
- 2x North American T-6 Harvards/Texans
- A Douglas DC-3/C-47 Dakota
- A De Havilland Dh.89 Dragoon Rapide
- A De Havilland Dh.82 Tigermoth
- A Boeing-Stearman Model 75 with wingwalker
- Thousands of carefully placed stock assets, every fence, traffic cone, fuel drum, picnic table and potted plant has been placed in it’s correct location ensuring an atmosphere of a true working aerodrome.
- High resolution colour corrected ground textures taken from Bing maps and manipulated for consistency and realism which far surpasses the quality of the stock Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 ground texture.
- Correct AI pattern procedures and accurate taxiway and runway placement.
- Surrounding landmarks have been enhanced for full circuit immersion including: Shenley Farms, Chart Hills Golf Club, The Sun Magic Juice factory, Smarden Church and numerous other points of reference.
- Full night lighting across the aerodrome.

Dipped my toe into the water and bought Lydd just to see how good these guys are… I’m delighted to say that here I am buying the other – nice work, keep it up!!!

Stunning level of detail and accuracy!

I’ve flown from here quite a few times and the detail and accuracy are spot on. My only criticism (and it is minor) is the length of the grass in game is way way longer than on the actual airfield. Not sure if this is under the control of the developers or not but would be nice to shorten it to 1-2 inches instead of covering the wheels.

So proud to test and review the Burning Blue Design Airports/Airfields.
Headcorn is one of my favourites by the team! The level of detail with all the airfields is crazy and this is no exception!
Love to fly and land my C-47, Hurricane and Hawker Tempest here… I have even made an emergency landing in my Avro Vulcan… was a real emergency honest 😉
Great work! Awesome to see these starting to be released on the Xbox too!
