General and Website support
Which simulators are Burning Blue Design products compatible with?
Burning Blue Design sceneries are created for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
I already purchased a product for MSFS 2020. Do I need to buy the scenery again for MSFS 2024?
No. Purchases made on our website include separate download links for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024.
Please make sure you are using the correct download package. The packages are clearly labelled in your My Downloads section.
Where can I download my purchased scenery?
Log in using the same account details you used when making your purchase.
Once logged in, click the My Account icon in the top right of the website, then select Downloads.
You will then see a list of all available downloads linked to your account.
Can I purchase your sceneries for Xbox?
Yes. Selected Burning Blue Design sceneries are available for Xbox through the in-sim Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace.
Please note that Xbox purchases must be made directly through the Marketplace inside Microsoft Flight Simulator. Products purchased from our website are for the PC version only and cannot be installed on Xbox.
Can I transfer purchases from Marketplace or Orbx to your website, or vice versa?
No. Purchases cannot be transferred between different stores.
If you purchased a product through the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace, Orbx, your purchase, downloads, and updates must be managed through that same store.
Likewise, purchases made directly through our website cannot be transferred to Marketplace, Orbx, or another platform.

MSFS 2020 - How do I install the scenery?
To install your Burning Blue Design scenery into Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020:
- Download the correct MSFS 2020 scenery package from your account.
- Locate the downloaded .zip file on your computer. This is usually in your Downloads folder.
- Right-click the .zip file and select Extract All.
- Extract the contents to a temporary location, such as your Desktop.
- Copy the main scenery package folder into your MSFS 2020 Community folder.
- Start or restart Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
- Load into the airport and check that the Burning Blue Design scenery is displaying correctly.
The package folder should go directly inside your Community folder. Do not place the .zip file itself into the Community folder.
Common MSFS 2020 Community folder locations:
Microsoft Store / Xbox app version:
C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community
Steam version:
C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community
If you installed Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 to a custom location, your Community folder may be inside the custom Packages folder you selected during installation.
MSFS 2024 - How do I install the scenery?
To install your Burning Blue Design scenery into Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024:
- Download the correct MSFS 2024 scenery package from your account.
- Locate the downloaded .zip file on your computer. This is usually in your Downloads folder.
- Right-click the .zip file and select Extract All.
- Extract the contents to a temporary location, such as your Desktop.
- Open the extracted folder and check the folder structure.
- Copy the main scenery package folder into your MSFS 2024 Community folder.
- Start or restart Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
- Load into the airport and check that the Burning Blue Design scenery is displaying correctly.
Make sure you are using the package clearly labelled for MSFS 2024. MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 downloads are separate packages.
The package folder should go directly inside your Community folder. Do not place the .zip file itself into the Community folder.
Your MSFS 2024 Community folder location may vary depending on whether you installed the simulator through Steam, the Microsoft Store, or a custom location.
If you are unsure where your MSFS 2024 Community folder is located, from within the sim, go to Marketplace > settings (top right cog) and check your Community folder location.
I've installed the scenery but I still see the default scenery
If you still see the default airport scenery after installing a Burning Blue Design product, please make sure you have followed the installation steps exactly.
Also check the following:
- Ensure you used the correct 2020 or 2024 package for your chosen simulator.
- Make sure you do not already have another scenery package installed for the same airport. If you do, remove it and restart the simulator.
- Check that you are using the correct Community folder for the simulator you are using.
- Check that the scenery was extracted into the correct folder structure.
- Try extracting the .zip file to your Desktop first, then copy the extracted scenery folder into the Community folder.
- Try using a different extraction program, such as 7-Zip, WinZip, or WinRAR.
- Restart the simulator after making any changes.
The correct folder structure should look similar to this:
Community\burningbluedesign-airport-icao-name\layout.json
If the files are inside an extra folder level, the simulator may not load the scenery correctly.
For example, this may not work correctly:
Community\burningbluedesign-airport-icao-name\burningbluedesign-airport-icao-name\layout.json
If the problem continues, please contact us on Discord.
I get a Windows “path too long” error when extracting the scenery to my Community folder
This can happen if Windows reaches its maximum file path length while extracting the scenery directly into the Community folder.
Please try the following:
1. Extract the downloaded .zip file to a shorter folder path first, such as C:\Temp or your Desktop.
2. Once extracted, copy the main scenery folder into your simulator’s Community folder.
3. Alternatively, use an add-on linker to manage your scenery from a shorter folder path.
I see pink textures in the scenery
Pink textures usually mean that the simulator cannot find or load one or more texture files.
Please try the following:
1. Delete the scenery from your Community folder.
2. Download the scenery again from your account.
3. Extract the downloaded .zip file to a short folder path first, such as C:\Temp or your Desktop.
4. Copy the extracted scenery folder into your simulator’s Community folder.
5. Restart Microsoft Flight Simulator and load the airport again.
The airport is affecting my frame rate. What can I do?
Performance can vary depending on your system, simulator settings, nearby add-ons, traffic settings, weather, and aircraft.
To improve performance, try lowering settings such as:
- Terrain Level of Detail
- Object Level of Detail
- Ground aircraft density
- Road traffic
- AI or live traffic
- Texture resolution
Also try testing the airport with other Community folder add-ons temporarily removed.
I see duplicate buildings, default objects, or incorrect scenery.
This is often caused by another scenery add-on covering the same airport or surrounding area.
Please temporarily remove other scenery add-ons near the same location and restart the simulator. If the issue disappears, there is likely a conflict between add-ons.
My Marketplace product has not received the latest update yet. Why?
Marketplace updates can take longer to appear because they need to pass through Microsoft’s update process before becoming available in the simulator.
If an update has been released elsewhere but is not yet visible in the Marketplace, please check back later in Content Manager.

FsExplore Add-on Support
What is FsExplore?
FsExplore is an optional add-on created by MamuDesign. It is used to trigger interactive animations at compatible Burning Blue Design airfields in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
These animations may include features such as doors, lighting, and other interactive scenery elements.
FsExplore allows animations to be triggered in two ways:
- Automatically, using avatar walkaround mode.
- Manually, through the in-sim EFB by going to EFB > FsExplore > Active Points.
Which Burning Blue Design airfields support FsExplore?
FsExplore support is currently solely for Netherthorpe Airfield in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
Other Burning Blue Design airfields may support FsExplore in the future, but FsExplore support is only for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
FsExplore is not used with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
Do I need FsExplore to use the scenery?
No. FsExplore is not mandatory.
Compatible Burning Blue Design airfields will still work normally without FsExplore installed. However, any FsExplore-supported animations will not be triggerable by avatar walkaround mode or through the EFB.
Do I need the paid version of FsExplore?
No. Only the free version of FsExplore is required for Burning Blue Design scenery support.
You may use the free version unless you specifically want features provided by the paid version for other uses. You can check out the additional features offered by the paid version at www.fsexplore.com
Where do I get FsExplore?
FsExplore must be downloaded from the MamuDesign website.
Visit:
https://mamudesign.eu/product/fsexplore/
You will need to register for an account, then “purchase” either the free or paid version. For Burning Blue Design scenery support, the free version is sufficient.
More information about FsExplore is also available here:
How do I install FsExplore?
To install FsExplore:
- Go to https://mamudesign.eu/product/fsexplore/
- Register for an account, or log in if you already have one.
- “Purchase” the free version of FsExplore.
- Download the FsExplore package.
- Extract the downloaded file.
- Place the FsExplore package into your Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Community folder.
- Start Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
- Open the in-sim EFB.
- Log in to FsExplore using the same account details you used on the FsExplore website.
Once installed and logged in, compatible animation points should be available at supported airfields.
How do I trigger FsExplore animations?
FsExplore animations can be triggered in two ways.
Automatic triggering:
Use Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 avatar walkaround mode. When you move near a supported animation point, FsExplore can trigger the animation automatically.
Manual triggering:
Open the in-sim EFB and go to:
EFB > FsExplore > Active Points
From there, you can manually trigger available animation points at compatible airfields.
FsExplore is installed, but animations are not working
Please check the following:
- Make sure you are using Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
- Make sure the airfield supports FsExplore.
- Make sure FsExplore is installed in your MSFS 2024 Community folder.
- Make sure you are logged in to FsExplore through the in-sim EFB.
- Use the same login details that you used on the FsExplore website.
- Check EFB > FsExplore > Active Points to see whether animation points are available.
- Restart the simulator after installing or updating FsExplore.
If the scenery itself is working but the animations are not available, FsExplore may not be installed, may not be logged in, or the airfield may not currently support FsExplore features.
